In her own words…

I started working in The Trappers Inn in Galway city when I was just 15 years old – I started the summer in the kitchen washing dishes and by the time the summer was over I was making starters and desserts, and I kinda caught the bug. I went on to The RTC in Galway (now known as ATU) to study Professional Cookery. I subsequently started working in Burkes in Clonbur and it was there, for the next 15/16 years, under the watchful eye of Sally Casey that I honed alot of good old fashioned homecooking. I learned a huge amount there and will always be grateful to the other lovely chefs and to the Burke Family themselves for the opportunities and experience.

The Homeplace

in the heart of headford

I had a moment of inspiration one day when I passed the vacant café in Headford and decided to inquire about renting it. Surrounded by great family and friends and lots of support, I decided to just Go For It, and within a very short time we opened the doors…

Quality ingredients, in season, locally sourced and good old fashioned home cooking was the plan and so far, it’s working!

Good staff, kind people and a warm and friendly space is equally important, and that part of the plan is working too! We have the best staff and the best customers, it’s win win.

We opened in 2019 with an aim to bring the whole lot together… throw in a bit of devilment and music and you’ve The Homeplace recipe.

We’ve had an eventful four years

since we opened

We never envisaged a global pandemic would be part of our experience when we opened our doors in 2019, but we learnt to adapt and we kept the doors open and I am forever grateful to our wonderful customers and fabulous staff.

A Friendly Face – Everyone is welcome
